Myco Coco – Loose Coco Coir Substrate & Mushroom Casing Layer
Premium Coco Coir Designed for Optimal Mycelial Growth
Myco Coco is a loose, hydrated coco coir substrate specially selected and processed to support superior mycelial growth in gourmet and medicinal mushroom cultivation.
Developed specifically for mushroom growers, this premium coco coir provides an ideal balance of moisture retention, gas exchange, and pH stability—all critical factors for successful mycelium colonization and fruiting.
Triple-washed and buffered to adjust pH and nutrient levels, Myco Coco delivers a consistent air-to-water ratio that helps create a stable environment for healthy mycelial development. The material is RHP certified, ensuring high-quality substrate standards and natural freedom from pests and weed seeds.
Derived from coconut husks, Myco Coco is a biodegradable and renewable resource that also contains natural trace minerals such as magnesium and calcium, which contribute to overall mushroom growth.
Myco Coco can be used both as a casing layer or as a component in bulk mushroom substrate recipes, making it a versatile addition to mushroom cultivation systems.
Key Benefits:
-
Specially selected coco coir for mushroom cultivation
-
Supports strong mycelial growth and colonization
-
Provides optimal moisture retention and gas exchange
-
Triple-washed and buffered for balanced pH and nutrients
-
RHP certified for premium substrate quality
-
Naturally free of pests and weed seeds
-
Contains natural magnesium and calcium trace minerals
-
100% renewable, biodegradable coconut husk material
How to Use:
As a Casing Layer
Apply only to fully colonized substrate where mycelium is established and primordia or pins are beginning to form. Apply a thin layer ¼–½ inch thick.
In Bulk Substrate
Mix coco coir with other ingredients according to your bulk substrate recipe. Pasteurize or sterilize the mixture after combining ingredients.
Pasteurization (Optional)
Coco coir naturally resists bacterial growth, but some growers prefer pasteurization.
Recommended method:
-
Steam pasteurization or water bath
-
180°F for 1–2 hours
-
After pasteurizing, squeeze out excess water and allow material to cool and dry before use
-
Latex gloves recommended during handling
Storage
Store coco coir in a cool, dry environment. Because it easily absorbs moisture, keep it in airtight, food-grade containers for best results.
